Thin hair may come with age, and while there is nothing you can do to prevent aging, there are ways to promote naturally thicker hair. Nature has given us everything we need to promote naturally vibrant health and there are many methods that will promote hair growth and increase volume. If you’ve got thin hair, or your hair’s just not as thick as it once was trying any of the following home remedies will promote thicker hair and leave you feeling your best.
5 Home Remedies for Naturally Thicker Hair
The power of nature is unsurpassed for giving us everything we need to look and feel our best. Women and men alike have been using natural remedies to treat various health concerns and keep themselves happy for thousands of years. Using natural home remedies offers a safe alternative to chemical based products that often contain toxic ingredients that may lead to harmful side effects. There are ways to get thicker hair, and it doesn’t have to cost you your health or a big dent in your pocketbook.
1. Egg
The egg is great for hair and skin and it’s got everything you need to build up the proteins in your hair to keep it thicker and promote new hair growth. Protein is one of the best things you can give your hair to make it stronger, thicker, and looking its best. If there is only one remedy you use to promote thicker hair, let this be it.
To use egg on your hair, beat two large eggs in a bowl until they are whisked well together. Apply this all over your dry hair and let sit for at least twenty minutes. Proceed to rinse this well, applying a light shampoo to get the smell of the egg out of your hair. This method should be used at least four times a week to gain the best results.
You can also use a mixture of egg yolk, olive oil, and water to gather results of thicker hair. The three should be mixed well and applied all over dry hair. Leave this on for fifteen minutes and then rinse well followed by a light shampoo. Repeating this procedure a few times a week will offer results in a few weeks.
2. Orange Juice
Orange juice is also a really great way to promote thicker hair and smells super refreshing. It promotes hair growth, thickens hair, and is great for treating dandruff. To use an orange to help you with your need for thicker hair, take a sliced orange, peel and all, and put it in a food processor until you have a fine pulp. This pulp should be applied to your hair and left on for twenty minutes. Doing so once a week will lead to fuller, thicker hair in a matter of months.
A mixture of orange juice and apple puree is also a good way to get thicker hair naturally. Applying this to your hair and scalp for thirty minutes once or twice a week is great to promote thick hair. It should be rinsed well. No additional shampoo is necessary if it is not desired.
3. Coconut Oil
Coconut oil is great for your hair and it’s easy to get thicker hair when you use this tropical oil as a treatment. Having a bottle of coconut oil is highly recommended if you wish to take care of your hair naturally and have it looking its best. There are proteins present in coconut oil that are responsible for adding strength to the hair, much like how the proteins in eggs work for treating thin hair.
To use coconut oil for getting thicker hair naturally, massage a bit of warmed coconut oil into the scalp and hair and cover with a hot towel. Get the towel hot by running it under hot water and ringing out all excess water. This will ensure that the oil stays heated while penetrating the hair shaft. Leave this on for thirty minutes and then rinse and wash with a mild shampoo. This can be repeated every few days to get hair that is both thicker and healthier.
4. Olive Oil
Olive oil is full of what your hair and skin need to stay healthy and vibrant. Keeping a bottle of olive oil and in the bathroom is highly recommended. People have been using olive oil for years to promote thicker hair and healthy skin. Olive oil contains the omega-3 fatty acids that your hair needs to become thicker.
does olive oil works ingredients for hair
It works?
Olive oil doesnt suit everyone…purely Depends on hair type… Well according to me EGG is the best way to get thick and healthy hair… 2-3 times a week and results are sure 🙂
ECG means?
My hairs got worst due to the eggs soo eggs don't suits everyone
Is your hair curly or straight? What type of hair do you have?
My hair is straight, just below shoulder length and very thin
How to use egg on hairs??
Use the egg white on your hair
Just easy apply it on ur hair
Yes u r right I m also want to try this remedy
What does egg mean..rachana?
Eggs as in chicken eggs. You crack the shell, and pour the yolk and eggs whites into a bowl. You mix it with other ingredients, such as olive oil or hair conditioner.
How much olive oil and water do you add to the 2 eggs? It doesn't specify above.
It will all depend on preference and what your needs are. Egg is great for hair but is also drying, so if you have drier hair you'll want more oil to water, but less than egg. If you have oily hair use more water to oil, but again, less than the amount you have in egg. I'd say use a tablespoon at a time and perhaps try a 1:2 or if you have longer hair 2:4/4:8 etc.
Well what if the upper part of your hair is oily while the bottom part or ends of your hair are dry? What will be a good ratio for that?
What does we use white part of egg or whole egg?
Whole egg 🙂
Whole egg.
Egg is good for hair but this smell…

I had long thick n shining hairs in school days.. now I'm 20yrs old. now my hairs became very very thin.. so plzz help to get thick hairs. I'm staying in hostel so I can't use egg. plz suggest me any shampoo and oil
Please help. My hair has always been my pride and joy. I figured since it is pretty damn healthy, it could deal with some bleach damage. And I figured the master stylist who did all the color-corrections would know how much would be too much. I was wrong, and now I want to burst into tears every time I look at my hair or touch it. I just don't know what to do. my hair has also NEVER been shorter than this and it breaks and falls out. What should i do to regrow hair?
Try olaplex treatments. Stop heat styling for a while, rinse in the shower with cold water. Use cold air with the blow dryer. Use quality salon shampoo and conditioner AND leave in conditioner. Eat fruits and vegetables daily, protein at every meal. Take a daily multivitamin and omega 3 fish or krill oil. (Do not take omega 6 or 9 is it unnecessary.) And most of all patience – it will grow back!
this is true,, listen to what she says ,, and lay off the bleaching of your hair, sound's like you might have left it on to long and melted your hair 🙁
I've tried these remedies and I'm very confident to say they really work especially the egg treatment. I did it for a couple of weeks and I could see a huge difference in my hair. I had thin brittle hair but now my hair is stronger and thicker. I'd recommend these remedies to anyone with hair problems.
Hi Thando. could you please share some pics of your hair. before and after. I need to see the difference 🙂
Can u please suggest me we should apply egg on oily hair are what????? Because as in one tip it's telling dry hair and in one wet…. . Can u please tell me how did u apply
How to use egg eat or apply on scalp if apply than how apply it ?
Can we wash our hair daily????
In my experience egg is pretty much a shampoo and I wouldn't reccomend using shampoo. I'd recommend rinsing your egg filled hair in cold water and using conditioner after for fragrance. I personally don't get a bad egg smell when I use no shampoo and just conditioner. Also when using oil I like to oil it over night then wash using an egg or two. Then condition, no shampooing. Shampoo is bad for your hair
I wish my hair daily because I am a blonde and I workout most days of the week so my hair gets drenched in sweat (it's not ideal) but I only shampoo the roots and hold the rest out of the way. I use regular conditioner and also leave in conditioner.
What about the smell??
Comment:when u want to leave ur hair overnight after adding the mixture do u cover ur hair so it does not stain ur pillow or u leave it open to air it
Use a satin bonnet
Do you or any one know does this help for menopause, and hair that's thinned?
At age 50, I get constant comments on my thick, long, shiny hair. You can see my photos on Facebook if you keyword laurel leigh anderson. My hair became thicker, shinier and grew faster when I went on a High Fat Low Carb Ketogenic diet with low starch, and no sugar. (Keyword "Dr. Eric Westman HFLC" on youtube to learn details.) I went on this diet to lose weight, and I lost 44 lbs. but at the same time, something changed regarding the suddenly much faster, thicker hair growth. It was a noticeable but welcome side effect. If you think about it, it makes sense. Hair is made of keratin which is protein and it becomes shiny and well moisturized because of nutritional fats and oils in the diet. Eating a bunch of sugar, and starchy carbs is not helpful to thick, shiny hair. Overconsumption of carbs leads to diabetes which causes hair loss. If you want your hair to grow, you need protein, oils and fats. Hair is damaged by heat from blow drying and hot irons and the natural oils are stripped out by soaps, surfactants and detergents. I also suggest brushing very very gently, starting at the tips and working back upwards to the scalp with a wide tooth hair pick, and do not brush 100 strokes at bed time or anything like that. I also suggest staying away from chemicals, perms, relaxers and weaves. Do not use cheap rubber bands, do not rip chop pull or tug, do not let the beautician "thin" your hair with shears, nor chop and cut. Instead, just give the beauty shop a rest while you focus on your nutritional status at home. If you see a woman with thinning hair, and you talk to her you will soon learn that they are typically type II diabetic and or "insulin resistant." Men are a different tale because they may simply have male pattern baldness, but in woman there is one main cause for hair loss: diabetes. Many of these hair loss woman are typically overweight yet malnourished, with a non dewey, haggard and worn looking complexion. If you carefully observe such an overweight woman with thinning hair, you will see them eating candy, drinking soft drinks, eating potatoes, french fries, pasta, rice, breads, parties, chips, so on and so forth. The overwhelming carbohydrate load leads to all her problems: her obesity, her diabetes, her malnutrition, and her hair loss. Supplements I recommend for hair growth include Biotin, MCT oil, Multi B Complex vitamins and Omega 3 and D-3. I also don't think washing the hair a whole lot is a great plan because strip the oils, and dries it out. Washing daily won't really help the hair to grow, but if you must wash it, just sparingly soap the crown, and do it every second or third day. Personally, I like the "Agadir Argan Oil Shampoo, Conditioner and most of all the Spray Treatment to add shine and hydrate. Some people recommend coconut oil, but natural coconut oil becomes a solid mass at 74 degrees Fahrenheit. If you buy coconut oil, get fractionated coconut oil, so it will pour from the bottle as a liquid. I sometimes do use that, but I prefer Argan oil from Morocco, which I purchase cheaply in bulk. The least expensive is "Dr Adorable" purchased online from Amazon. All the supplements and vitamins I buy for myself are for sale on Amazon.com because I don't have a car, so I have it all delivered in a box, to my door, with two day shipping. If anyone wants photos of my hair its laurel one zero six six at gee mail dot com

Whats the best treatment for thin hair????
If you leave coconut oil in your hair over night and put a hot towel over it, and then rinse it out in the morning and just use shampoo on the most part of your hair and then just a little bit of conditioner on your ends. Don't towel dry your hair either cause that breaks your hair and makes it frizzy.
If anybody washes our hair daily with soap or shampoo so itz good for hair are not ??

i tried the method of “egg” but i din’t get better results. So, Pls help me
Thank you 🙂
These are really excellent suggestions! Eggs are great sources of protein for hair but be sure to rinse them out with COLD water. Using hot water will cook them into your hair, resulting in a scrambled mess!
There are some really great natural thickening tips here!
