If you can hold it for more time, do it. It’s a good idea to write down how many second you could hold it for at the beginning. You will see that after two weeks of regular exercises, your arms will get much stronger and you will be able to hold the plank position three to four time longer.
Push-ups and Plank Mix
If you want to take the plank to the next level after some time, you can go from the position with bent arms to straightening one elbow, then the other and to supporting the weight of your body on straight arms, with your spine and legs still kept straight. Don’t hold neither of the positions, just go up and down, from supporting yourself on the forearms, to placing the body weight on the hands. Repeat 10 times, take a break and do another 10 repetitions. For best results, do this exercise at least 5 times a week.
