Other Home Remedies to Eliminate Dandruff

Coconut oil is reported to be the most effective natural remedy for dandruff. So if are just about to start your struggle with dandruff, go for coconut oil. It is normal, however, that it won’t work in 100 percent of cases and if you are such a case, don’t give up, but just try one of many other natural solutions and for sure you will finally win the war with dandruff.

1.     Tea Tree Oil

Tea tree oil is a wonderful natural antibiotic and antiseptic, which will help you fight dandruff on your scalp. It doesn’t cause any side effects, it won’t dry your skin, and it also smells great.

You can use tea tree oil in many different ways. The easiest one is by adding a few drops of tea tree oil to shampoo you use regularly.

You can also prepare a nourishing mist for your hair with tea tree oil. Just dilute one tablespoon of tea tree oil in a cup of warm water. Pour it to a spray bottle and use it on your hair after you wash it with shampoo. You can massage it gently into your scalp and do your hair as usual. Follow the process on a regular basis.

Another option is to mix tea tree oil and some carrier oil, for example almond oil or olive oil. For one teaspoon of carrier oil it will be enough to use ten drops of tea tree oil. Rub it into your scalp and wash it with your shampoo after 30 minutes. Do the process regularly and you should deal with the problem of dandruff quickly.

Mixing tea tree oil with grape seed oil is an interesting option too. Prepare 12 drops of tea tree oil and one oz of grape seed oil. Apply the mixture on your scalp and wash your hair after a few minutes.

Of course, there are also many shampoos in the market that contain tea tree oil and often turn out to be effective so you can always try them. Make sure, however, that it contains at least 5 percent of tea tree oil as an ingredient.

2.     Olive Oil

Olive oil has amazing soothing qualities and it will moisturize and nourish your scalp irritated by dandruff. When you apply in on your scalp, it will soak into it and release in large pieces of flakes. That should clean your head and put an end to your problems with dandruff.

One of the ways you can use olive oil for dandruff is by heating a few drops of it and massaging it gently into your scalp. Then cover your head with a cotton towel and leave it for about 30 minutes. After that time wash your hair as usual.

You can also do the massage before going to bed and wash your head in the morning. You should see the spectacular results quickly.

Or you don’t have to heat the olive oil, but just apply it directly on your scalp and sit with it for about 10 minutes and wash your hair as usual. You can leave it overnight too and wash it off in the morning.

Quite an interesting method is mixing the olive oil with black pepper, which is rich in zinc and selenium – two minerals which are crucial when it comes to dandruff removal. Just blend three teaspoons of olive oil and one teaspoon of black pepper powder.

Massage the mixture into your scalp and leave it for about an hour or leave it overnight for even better results.  After that time wash your hair as usual. Try to repeat the process four nights in a row and be free of dandruff.

You can also wet your hair a little bit so that it won’t absorb the oil and warm up ½ cup of olive oil. Now, apply it on your scalp with a gravy brush and wrap your head in saran wrap. Leave it like that for 40 minutes and wash your hair thoroughly. If you follow the process regularly, you will clear the dandruff quickly.
