1. Drink Plenty of Fluids

It is no secret that drinking plenty of water is excellent in maintaining overall health and well-being. When it comes to pus in the urine, the power of drinking water and other fluids is unprecedented. When you increase the amount of water and other fluids going into the body, you also increase the amount of urine that goes out of your body, helping to flush out any harmful bacteria that have caused infection in the urinary tract. While water is the optimal choice for flushing the system, many other fluids are also extremely beneficial for flushing the urinary tract including:

  • All-Natural Fruit Juices with No Added Sugar
  • All-Natural Vegetable Juices with No Added Sugar
  • Green Tea
  • Coconut Water

Fruits and vegetables with a high content of water will also help to flush harmful bacteria from the body. It is recommended to drink at least 10 glasses of water every day and maintain this increased intake to ensure your defenses are always increased to ward off any infection that may harm the system.

2. Increase Vitamin C

As one of the most fundamental vitamins for supporting the health of the entire body, vitamin C is essential for fighting off infection and increasing overall well being. Pus in the urine is caused by excess amounts of harmful bacteria, and an increase of vitamin C will help destroy these bacteria and keep them from multiplying. Bacteria cannot survive in an acidic environment, and high amounts of vitamin C will increase the acidity in the urine. By acidifying the urine with increased vitamin C, you ensure that the growth of new bacteria is inhibited. Supplements with high amounts of vitamin C are encouraged, as are the following foods that are all high in this powerful nutrient:

  • Oranges
  • Pineapple
  • Grapefruit
  • Papaya
  • Strawberries
  • Red and Green Peppers
  • Broccoli
  • Cabbage

Being conscious of eating plenty of these foods, preferably in their raw state, will help your body fight infection and give your body the defense it needs to inhibit harmful bacteria in the system.

3. Cranberry Juice

Cranberry juice has long been a go-to for treating urinary issues such as bladder infections and urinary tract infections. These berries are not only high in vitamin C, but are also excellent in reducing the pH of urine. 80 percent water, cranberries are also a very beneficial source of flavonoids, anthocyanin, and triterpenoids, making them a powerful antioxidant. Cranberries also contain ascorbic acid, organic citrus and malic acids, and trace amounts of benzoic acid. The small amount of benzoic acid is what reduces the pH balance of the urine, helping to regulate the present pus levels.

Cranberries also have anti-adherent properties that prevent bacteria from adhering to the bladder surface. Fructose and proanthocyanidin are the two compounds found in cranberries that inhibit bacterial adhesions to uroepithelial cells. Fructose is found in many cells, but proanthocyanidin is only found in cranberries and blueberries, making cranberries an excellent source to ward off bacteria. Try mixing 1/2 cup unsweetened cranberry juice with 1/2 cup water and drink 2-3 times a day to help minimize pyuria.

Using a juicer to extract the juice from the cucumber is best for pyuria and will help immensely with relief of this condition. Juice enough cucumbers each day for at least 1/2 cup three times a day until symptoms improve.
